Zoe Schaeffer’s East LA

Zoe Schaeffer’s East LA

My name is: Zoe Schaeffer.

Im known for being: I imagine that people who know me consider me obsessed with travel, home design and discovering new things in the wellness world.

I live in: Hancock Park, Los Angeles.

My newest wellness obsession is: Oh, so many. But two are: Dr. Nigma Talib's Beauty Cocktail Collagen Powder because it includes electrolytes, and also Pluck Organ Seasoning which are nutrient-dense organ meats in a seasoning form (genius)!

THE PHYSICAL:

In my city, my favorite place for exercise is: Carries's Pilates for the super intense megaformer and LEK's trampoline workout (a staple class for the East Side girls)!

The best spot for body or facial treatments is: I’m a beauty writer, so I try out a lot of spots. Right now, for the face, I'm loving Facile on Melrose Place for capillary-zapping lasers (and I really want to try their "Gold Infusion"), and for the body, Pause on Sycamore for the "Contrast Room,” which is a private sauna and cold plunge.

My favorite local health food store or delicious nourishing restaurant is: Erewhon is my temple. I get everything I can't buy at the farmer's market there. (They make amazing, clean, in-house waffles that are impossible to replicate.) And Honey Hi in Echo Park is my favorite for brunch.

When Im there, I always grab: The Breakfast Salad, a dandelion "coffee" and they make the most insanely addictive clean chocolate chip cookies.

THE EMOTIONAL:

When I want to get quiet, think and/or meditate, I head to: Descanso Gardens in La Cañada, one of my favorite places. It's where we've done lots of family photoshoots and our friends got married there.

What I do there is: Wander. Take pictures.

What makes it special and unique is: It's less polished and precious than other gardens (in all the best ways). It's completely magical.

THE INTELLECTUAL:

My favorite LA podcaster or writer is: I am always listening to wellness podcasts like MindBodyGreen and Doctor's Farmacy, but many functional medicine doctors choose to live in cleaner environments with less air pollution! Kelly LeVeque is an amazing LA nutritionist and mom and she has a really good podcast called Be Well.

My favorite local bookstore is: I am constantly buying coffee table books—about art, interiors, design, photography. Owl Bureau in Highland Park has a really well-curated selection in the coolest space.

The best thing about it is: Its thoughtful mix of vintage and new tomes. You can build an entire collection that would be stylish and unique just from that one store.

THE TRANSFORMATIONAL:

When I need to get away, I take a trip to: I dream about travel 24 hours a day, so a trip to a new destination—wherever that might be—is transformational for me. Recent trips were to Iceland with my kids and Sicily with friends. They woke me up.

The reason why I love it is: Inhaling the beauty of a new place in the world, whether it's through architecture, a farmer's market, a monastery, local shops, hotel design or waterfalls, literally fills me up.

LIVE THE PROCESS:

My favorite piece from the new Live The Process collection is: LTP is hands down, the chicest. I love the versatile Ellipse Pant with a monotone top!

I cant wait to wear it while I: Live my life.
