My name is: Katherine Tinsley.
I’m known for being: A journalist.
I live in: Chicago.
My newest wellness obsession is: Rose quartz.
What I love about my city right now is: Summertime in Chicago compensates for our harsh and long winters. The summer weather is always perfect; it is rarely ever too hot or too humid; it always feels “just right.” Living on the lakefront, I try to take advantage of the opportunities to be outside because the summer feels so short, and I know once fall begins, I’ll be indoors again until June. Being surrounded by nature and my community allows me to not just exercise physically, but mentally and spiritually too.
In my city, my favorite place for exercise is: Pure Barre.
The best spot for body or facial treatments is: Oxygen Facial at the Four Seasons.
My favorite local health food store or delicious nourishing restaurant is: Bonne Sante.
When I’m there, I always grab: Their Omegacado Smoothie with avocado, nut milk, agave and cinnamon or cayenne .
When I want to get quiet, think and/or meditate, I head to: The Promontory Point.
What I do there is: Sit by the lake and take in the surroundings and the sound of the water.
What makes it special and unique is: It’s located on the South Side of Chicago, which is frequently misrepresented. The “point” is reflective of the true South Side which is filled with diversity, peace and greenery.
My favorite podcaster or writer is: Roxanne Gay.
My favorite local bookstore is: Powell’s.
The best thing about it is: It is a “used book emporium” and offers a wide variety of affordable and free academic texts.
When I need to get away, I take a trip to in: Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
The reason why I love it is: Growing up in the Midwest, it was extremely common to spend time at a cottage on the lake to enjoy nature and escape city life. Lake Geneva has always provided the perfect weekend escape and the opportunity to reconnect with nature.
LIVE THE PROCESS:
The Live The Process piece I’m coveting right now is: The Arcade Jumpsuit.
I’d wear it to: Grab a latte and spend the day at Midway Plaisance Park.
