MY NAME IS: Laura McDermit.
I'M KNOWN FOR BEING:
The manager of social and entrepreneurial experiences at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh. I am in charge of planning unique events that allow visitors to experience the museum in fresh and interesting ways.
I'M HELPING TO LAUNCH:
Yoga at CMOA, a yoga series at the art museum.
YOU CAN FIND IT AT:
11am on Sunday, March 20th, at the Carnegie Museum of Art. That’s the last event in our first series, but we’ll launch another series in the summer. Tickets and info can be found at cmoa.org.
WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL IS:
CMOA teamed up with Yoga Hive, one of the preeminent yoga studios in Pittsburgh, to present our series of flow yoga. Participants join together for practice in our beautiful Hall of Sculpture, which was inspired by the Parthenon’s inner sanctuary. This grand space provides an excellent backdrop for down dogs and shavasana.
The experience is elevated further through our partnership with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Each month, a musician accompanies the practice. A violist serenading your flow is awesome!
ONE THING YOU CAN'T MISS IS:
After practice is finished, participants are encouraged to stay at the museum with free admittance. We also offer a guided tour immediately following the session for participants to gain a deeper appreciation of the artwork that surrounded the activity.
YOU BODY WILL THANK YOU BECAUSE:
Not only will you feel refreshed physically, but enjoying the artwork and the museum during and after practice will refresh your mind and soul, as well!
