My name is: Sara Cullen.

My stomping ground is: Venice, CA.

I’m known for being: Founder of GEM.

I'm talking about: How we can transform the way we nourish ourselves! GEM is the first multi(bite)amin—all your daily nutrient essentials in one real food bite.

You can find it at:

Before I launched this, I was: Experimenting in the world of plant-based food and beverage. I built the first-ever CBD, plant-based beverage at the outset of the CBD craze.

My interest was sparked when: Growing up on a farm and being raised by entrepreneurs instilled a sense of curiosity about our environmental nutrition and how we can do things differently.

What inspired me to start this was: My own struggles with personal health— things like inflammation, fatigue, brain fog. I turned to the supplement aisle to fill nutrient gaps in my diet (despite being a healthy, young person) and was met with outdated solutions like isolated nutrients, sugar-filled gummies, synthetic pills, etc. I wanted to fill this needed gap in the market with a whole food solution.

The idea behind it is: Backed by the simple philosophy that food is medicine.

What makes it different is: Food doesn’t fit in a pill. We’re the antidote to the supplement aisle—not a pill, not a candy—a real food chewable bite made with ingredients that your body knows and loves.

One thing you can’t miss is: Our seasonal Daily Essential favorite—Citrus Ginger—loaded with energizing superfoods, prebiotic fibers, botanicals, probiotics (and more!) that combine to support inflammation and digestion, nurturing a holistic foundation for our immune system.

My favorite secret detail is: All of our bites contain at least one form of algae, the most sustainable and nutritious ingredient for our human and planetary health.

What it means to find balance is: Finding what nourishes you, not starves you, and finding the things that work for your body.

What makes balance so important is: Having balance means feeling good every day.
