My name is: Kathy Olivero Aguayo.

I'm known for being: The Spa Manager at the Iridium Spa at The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort in Puerto Rico.

I’m talking about: The brand new Iridium Spa.

This is special because: The Iridium Spa is an oasis for rejuvenation that pays homage to the vibrant culture and natural beauty of Puerto Rico. Dedicated solely to the beauty of pampering and tranquility, our spa offers a serene retreat where nature blends with tradition. Surrounded by the resort’s enchanting landscape, the spa offers a selection of facials, body treatments, massages and hair and nail services. The spa also has 10 treatment rooms, relaxation areas, steam and sauna facilities, hot and cold plunge pools and a fully equipped 24-hour fitness center. Each treatment at our spa has been carefully designed with indigenous and cultural influences, using organic native ingredients such as coconut, coffee and sugar cane. Treatments also incorporate fresh herbs from the resort’s own plant nursery.

When it comes to well-being, we’re all about: The Iridium Spa offers guests the opportunity to connect with nature during their spa experience. When guests arrive, they’re greeted by a floating outdoor pathway lined with beautiful palm trees, which delivers them to 10 secluded treatment villages that are framed by a lush tropical garden. Completely surrounded by nature and treated with the finest scents, textures and sounds, every moment is designed to invigorate and stimulate the senses. Understanding that no two faces or bodies are the same, we create customized experiences for each guest’s individual needs.

One thing you can’t miss is: The Iridium spa offers a Synergy Decanter Table, which allows our guests to tailor their treatments by selecting essential oils and local herbs to create a custom blend of ingredients. Guests should also be sure not to miss the spa’s signature treatments such as the Rum Encounter Massage, the Tropical Sanctuary or Caribbean Coffee Legend. All of the signature treatments incorporate ingredients indigenous to Puerto Rico.

My favorite secret detail is: Our spa offers a special amenity of a mango or passion fruit mimosa sorbet. The delicious sorbet is made by the resort’s pastry chef using fruit from our organic garden.

Your body will thank you because: It’s time to put yourself first for once. Your body will thank you for taking the time to relax and renew. Massage therapy is the most effective way to give your body a sense of care. Also, stress relief is critical to your body functioning at its best, and what better way than to have somebody physically touch every muscular part of your body as a surface examination? You may discover pain points that you didn’t even know existed, and these could be the early signs of something bigger. So, let massage therapy be your first line of defense.

While you’re in the neighborhood, you must try: Guests should take advantage of the unique activities offered—such as surfing, nature walks, paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing and fishing—that allow you to immerse yourself in nature. Guests should also explore the terrific waterfalls and beautiful mountainous terrain in the El Yunque National Rainforest, which is situated just next to the resort.

Escaping should be part of your process because: Escaping to our Iridium spa should be part of your process because it’s a great way to disconnect from your daily worries and routines. A haven of tranquility, the Iridium spa is the heart of The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort. From the moment you enter our spa, you will be transported to a world of well-being and healing. Our goal is to provide guests with a holistic sense of wellness. I have seen our guests’ health improve with each visit and the benefits that they receive are so much greater than simply feeling pampered.
