A Review With Lily Simpson

MY NAME IS: Lily Simpson

MY BOOK IS CALLED:

The Detox Kitchen Bible

THE PUBLICATION DATE IS:

May 7, 2015

I WAS INSPIRED TO WRITE WHEN:

I started up my company, The Detox Kitchen. We run a food delivery service and two delis in London, so the cookbook just felt like a natural progression. I have seen firsthand how eating wholesome, nutritious food can positively affect the body and wanted to show how easy and nonrestrictive the lifestyle can be.

IT'S ABOUT:

Healthy, delicious food combined with the principles of nutrition. Many of the recipes are inspired by my travels around the world, so the book is a real collection of foods I have tried and loved along the way. Rob Hobson (nutritionist and co-author) put together a section on nutrition, which explains the role of the diet in managing health. There are twelve different detox plans tailored for particular health problems, which you can follow or just browse and pick the recipes that look the most tempting!

MY HOPE IS THAT READERS WILL:

See how easy it is to follow a healthy lifestyle and still enjoy good food. Nutrition is so important for our health, and the impact that only a few small changes can make is huge. The important message is not to take it too seriously. If you want some chocolate, eat some chocolate! I hate the thought of deprivation and know I am guilty of a little indulgence every now and then.

MY NEXT BOOK MIGHT BE:

Another cookbook! I have enjoyed the process so much this time, and there are so many more recipes I would love to share with everyone.

THE TITLE OF MY AUTOBIOGRAPHY WOULD BE:

I think my life is a bit too boring for an autobiography. I’m happy to keep on writing cookbooks; they are more interesting for you all!

IF I WAS A CHARACTER FROM FICTION, I'D BE:

Samantha from Bewitched. I love that film!
