MY NAME IS: Georgia Hughes.
Georgia Hughes.
THE BOOK IS TITLED:
The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy by Valerie Ann Worwood.
THE PUBLICATION DATE IS:
November 15, 2016.
MY ROLE IS:
I am the editor at the publishing company, New World Library.
I WAS INSPIRED TO PUBLISH IT BECAUSE:
The book offers practical suggestions and a great deal of background information about using essential oils in daily life. It’s more comprehensive and easier to use than most books on the topic and has excellent information for everyone from readers using essential oils to relax and reduce stress to health practitioners using them with clients. The first edition of this book came out in 1991, and the author and I started talking about an updated version almost ten years ago. It’s based on years of research, and it took her much longer to compile all the information, edit it and present it.
IT'S ABOUT:
The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy is a comprehensive guide to using essential oils: what they are and how to use them, and provides specific applications on a wide array of topics and subjects. It teaches the beginner how to get started and the advanced professional how to create the right formula for many common concerns. The book includes recipes, suggestions and an encyclopedic index of the oils and their uses. In this new 25th anniversary edition, which contains more than 800 easy-to-follow recipes for essential oil treatments, author Valerie Worwood provides tools to address a huge variety of health issues, including specific advice for children, women, men and seniors. Other sections cover self-defense against microbes and contaminants, emotional challenges, care for the home and workplace and applications for athletes, dancers, travelers, cooks, gardeners and animal lovers. Worwood also offers us her expertise in the use of essential oils in beauty and spa treatments, a basic care kit and a travel kit that fit today's lifestyle, plus profiles of 125 essential oils, 37 carrier oils and more.
MY HOPE IS THAT READERS WILL:
Experience the amazing benefits and healing properties of the “Fragrant Pharmacy” Mother Nature has provided, as described in this book. I hope readers will learn to use this natural, nontoxic approach to improve their health and well-being. As Valerie Ann Worwood writes in her preface: “Throughout my career, and to the present day, I’ve been a 'hands-on’ practitioner. Although I lecture and research, what gives me the energy to continue is observing the interaction between essential oils and patients, and watching each individual’s healing journey."
THE TITLE OF MY AUTOBIOGRAPHY WOULD BE:
Loving Books and Making Them Better: An Editor and Reader Looks at Life and What It Takes to Play the Bassoon
IF I WAS A CHARACTER FROM FICTION, I'D BE:
Ramona the Pest. One of my colleagues dubbed me “Georgia the Pest” early in life as I was always quizzing people and bugging the marketing folks about my books. It was with affection, but maybe she had a point! Editors need to juggle and also constantly give authors suggestions and feedback, much of it unwanted and challenging. Many authors would prefer the editor leave them alone, once a book is signed. Yet we persist, and usually that’s a good thing!
