My name is: Kerrilynn Pamer.
My stomping ground is: In the mountains of Calabasas and Malibu—or as my husband has dubbed it, “Malabasas.”
I’m known for being: The CEO of CAP Beauty, in love with all the animals, being a prolific baker and someone who feels their best when the house is clean.
I'm talking about: Matcha!
You can find it at: CAP Beauty! We launched our matcha seven years ago when we opened, and I’ve been drinking it every day since. It’s one of my key helpers for getting lots done, focusing intensely, and is a secret ingredient in much of my cooking—both savory and sweet. I also rely on it as an effective and calming mask. Especially when mixed with my friend Gabby and Luke’s manuka honey, Activist.
Before I launched this, I was: I had another store, Castor & Pollux. I also worked at Martha Stewart many moons ago. And with Sean MacPherson and Eric Goode in the creation of their restaurants.
I reach for herbs and adaptogens when: They are a part of my life daily. I cycle between different ones and lean into what my body is asking for. I had a bad accident a few months ago that didn’t allow me to take any adaptogens, so I leaned heavily into my matcha routine.
This helps your body because: Matcha provides a clean and clear mode of focus for me, as well as being a powerful anti-inflammatory and is a taste that I crave and find delicious in so many ways.
What makes it different is: Our matcha is organic and ceremonial grade and has a beautiful verdant taste that sets it apart from many others out there.
The secret ingredient is: Love and admiration.
This is a quote from our matcha grower: “When I am in the fields, I look at the tea and listen to its voice. I listen to the tea plants to figure out how to make them happy. If I do the right things, tea leaves become bright and shiny. Before the harvest season, if I see sparkly, healthy, almost oily tea leaves, I’m smiling in the field alone.”
My favorite lesser-known detail is: How much love and care is put into the process of caring for and tending to the shade grown matcha. It has become a food that is so common that we don't necessarily think of how it comes to be, but it’s a very special process that is guided by love and happiness. You taste that.
It’s especially important to boost our health right now because: It’s so high in antioxidants and polyphenols, both of which have been shown to be beneficial to our immune systems and provide defense for our bodies.
My favorite new ritual for self-care is: I’ve recently started writing Morning Pages again and it has become one of my most looked forward to parts of the day. I also have been playing with clay, and that has been a lot of fun.
