TLC with Naomi Edwards

My name is: Naomi Edwards.

I’m known for being: A healer, teacher and aromatherapist. Founder of Hillabrant Holistics and Ayurvedic consultant to Terra & Co.

I'm talking about: My company, Hillabrant Holistics, is a wellness concierge combining the practices of Ayurveda, yoga and plant medicine.

You can find it at: Wellness is brought to you, in your home or office.

Before I began this work, I was: I’ve always been doing this work, but didn’t know it. I was buried in the fashion industry for many years, trying to be a light force for everyone. But no one really appreciated it or just sucked it out of me.

I started with teaching yoga twelve years ago and then fell in love with the other modalities; the journey just got better from there.

What inspired me to launch it was: My Dad. He was a musician, very spiritual and shamanic. I’d like to think that he passed this down to me in some way, to help others and give light.

How it works is: It begins with an Ayurvedic Consultation and, from there, I design your wellness program which includes Ayurvedic treatments, yoga, meditation, spiritual coaching and herbs.

What makes it special is: I’m here to be in service to all, but my main focus is women’s health. I work with women during unique life transitions, where too often they’re forgotten or not asked, “Hey, how are you really doing?” So this is post-birth, perimenopause, menopause and postmenopause.

One thing you can’t miss is: Experiencing an Ayurvedic consultation and having your pulse read.

My favorite secret detail is: It’s never too late to take ownership of your health and well-being, and it can be an enjoyable experience!

For me, what it means to feel grounded is: Being still—stillness is quite a challenge for most. When we reach that moment of letting go of what’s next and can just be. A deep squat is so powerful; it’s the most primitive connection to the earth. I’ve sat in that pose for extended time and felt so many layers of that. Walking barefoot on the earth is literally called grounding. Meditating the root and sacral chakras right at the base of the spine.

Grounding is so important because: It heals and balances the parasympathetic nervous system, the mode where the body can rest, restore, recover and digest. Our society doesn’t allow us time for this, so many are running on empty and burned out. Grounding reminds us to take pause and to root.

In Ayurveda, if your vata dosha (or the elements of space and air) is too strong or predominant, you would need more grounding to balance it out. The vata season also calls for grounding, which runs from late fall through early winter.

This can help you live your process (and get grounded) because: Grounding brings you back to the present moment, creating more focus and reducing anxiety. When we give ourselves that time to take pause and get rooted, our best work naturally shines through.
