My name is: Amra Hajdarevic.
I’m known for being: Founder and CEO of Terra & Co.
I'm talking about: Terra & Co.’s best-selling Brilliant Black Oil Pulling.
You can find it at: terraandco.com, Erewhon Market, Poosh.
Before I created this line, I was: Before founding Terra & Co. with my sister, I worked for multiple beauty start-ups doing everything from product development to helping them launch in the market.
What inspired me to launch it was: The ancient Ayurvedic practice of oil pulling has become more mainstream in recent years. Oil has been used as a medicine for thousands of years, and there are a lot of recent studies that suggest that this is an oral health trend to stay.
How it works is: You take a small sip, approximately 1 teaspoon of oil, into the mouth. Gently swish around for 2-5 minutes. Spit out the oil into the trash can. Do not swallow. When finished, brush your teeth as normal.
What makes it special is: Our mouths are filled with 600 species of bacteria, which are coated in a lipid (fat) membrane. When exposed to the fats in the oil, the bacteria bind and are released from your body when you spit the oil out, leaving your mouth feeling fresh, clean and hydrated, and teeth sparkling white.
One thing you can’t miss is: Unlike burning alcohol-based mouthwashes, oil pulling is organically formulated to restore the pH balance of your mouth, naturally reduce inflammation and build-up and “pull” bacteria that cause bad breath, while promoting saliva production and moisturizing gums.
My favorite secret detail is: I love that this simple formula of MTC oil, coconut oil and peppermint oil is protected in a recyclable ultraviolet glass bottle, which not only works to preserve the freshness, but also protects it from all UV/UVB rays. No artificial preservatives are needed for with this beautiful black bottle.
For me, what it means to feel grounded is: To become more attuned to the needs of our bodies and turn to natural healing modalities. My daily conscious choice of oil pulling makes me feel more grounded.
Grounding is so important because: It helps me to connect to Mother Earth (La Terra), bringing physical and mental balance and spiritual well-being.
This can help you live your process (and get grounded) because: Ayurveda has taught me how to incorporate various techniques, such as oil pulling, meditation and the use of herbs and spices to feel more grounded and live in harmony with nature.
