Beauty Foodie

Beauty Foodie

My name is: Leanne Citrone.

My stomping ground is: Hancock Park/Mid-City.

You can find me at: Erewhon, Modo Yoga, Matsuhisa, Felix, Botanica, Antico, Escuela, Leo’s Taco Truck, Croft Alley. All over the city!

I’m known for being: A former hairstylist and salon owner turned foodie with a lifestyle website that’s filled with recipes and things I love.

I’m talking about: All things food! Farmers markets, restaurants I love and the food that I am cooking in the moment. Guaranteed, I am always talking about food.

You can find it at:Leannecitrone.com or on instagram @leannecitrone.

What brought me to LA was: A cute boy in 1997.

Before I launched this, I was: I owned a top salon in Los Angeles. At the beginning of this year, I walked away to focus on lots of new and exciting projects in the food and wellness space.

What inspired me to create it was: Growing up in the kitchen in England with my mom. Cooking has always been something I’ve been passionate about, a way I have expressed my love and spent my leisure time. I am blessed to get to do it full-time now.

The idea behind it is: I launched a website as a way to connect to people through food. I loved cutting hair because I helped people feel beautiful. The one other thing that has that same level of joy is gathering around food with family and friends. I always cooked in my spare time and was getting a lot of questions about recipes and tools. I wanted to create a one-stop-shop for all the dishes I cook and the products and tools in my kitchen. The site is just a baby and it continues to grow and change with me. Truly living in the process!

What makes it different is: Coming from the beauty industry I started to think about food as a means of nourishing and beautifying yourself from the inside out. Being British, I also share dishes I grew up eating with a California twist. Healthy, organic, local produce made into delicious, hopefully easy to cook, dishes.

One thing you can’t miss is: Easy recipes, lots of shopping and you get to meet some awesome people who I love and respect through interviews. I am currently enrolled at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, so there is also a lot of info I am learning that I share through my dishes.

My favorite secret detail is: I am working on a new project that I can’t talk about yet, but it is my favorite secret at the moment!

Today’s LA isn’t all blondes and Beverly Hills like the stereotype. It’s more like: LA is exactly what you think it is. Love it or hate it, there’s something for everyone! Great weather, great food, beautiful beaches, great people who are creative and at the top of their fields. It’s all about finding your voice and your tribe and doing the things you love.

What helps me live my process in LA is: My husband, two teenage kids and our mini bull terrier, Lottie.
