My name is: Patti Montella.
My book is called: Becoming Unshakeable: Wisdom Learned on the Journey to Inner Freedom (Lioncrest Publishing; July 9, 2019).
My background before becoming an author was: For 20 years, I was a corporate executive with a global airline and travel technology company. In 1998, I left my career to dedicate my life to uplifting society through the wisdom of the ancient yogic sciences. I have been traveling and teaching throughout the world for 25 years now, as a senior international faculty member with the Art of Living Foundation and the International Association for Human Values. Both organizations are founded by renowned spiritual leader and humanitarian, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
I was inspired to write my book when: I’ve always wanted to write a book about the spiritual path I am walking, which is rooted in Vedanta—the science of self-discovery. It has brought powerful and very real transformation to my life. Through the years, as chronic stress and anxiety has become the social norm more and more, I made a concerted effort to quickly finish my book. Everyone deserves to be happy; it’s just a matter of taking a step toward getting to know your true self.
It’s about: My spiritual journey and transformation from corporate executive to international spiritual teacher for one of the most renowned spiritual leaders of the 21st century.
The most unexpected takeaway is: What we are all looking for—in order to realize greater joy, inner freedom and peace as a way of life—is our own true self. The “how” to tap into this truth is readily available to everyone right here, right now—and you don’t have to turn your life upside down or trek to the highest point in the Himalayas to find it!
It’s a game changer because: The 15 wisdom lessons found in the book, and the breathing techniques I refer to, have shifted the lives of millions of people worldwide and can light the way for your very own personal transformation. The book is written with great honesty about my own spiritual journey in a down-to-earth style, so readers can relate and immediately apply the wisdom lessons in their own lives.
My hope is that readers will: Learn the breathing techniques I refer to in the book and apply at least a few of the wisdom lessons in order to add more ease, happiness and peace of mind to their own life experience.
My next book might be: A more in-depth focus on the 15 wisdom lessons shared in the book for particular professions and students.
The title of my autobiography would be: This one! This book chronicles the biggest and most interesting part of my life story—so far!
