This January, we are Giving The Process: For each of the first 30 days of the month, we’re highlighting something—and someone—amazing in the wellness world, representing the beauty, health, style, creative, energetic and/or spiritual boost you need to make yourself a priority in the new year—and decade. On January 31, one charmed follower will win one of every item and ritual we highlight, including a $1,000 gift card for Live The Process!
They say it takes 30 days to create a habit—sign ups for our newsletter, follow us on IG and tell us how you’re hoping to make taking care of your physical, emotional, intellectual and/or spiritual self a priority this year—to make 2020 about self-care without guilt.
Today’s gift is One-On-One Virtual Yoga Coaching with Jamie Lugo.
My name is: Jamie Lugo.
I’m known for being: A yoga teacher and life coach.
I'm sharing: A one-on-one Virtual Yoga Coaching Session (30 minutes of coaching and 30 minutes of yoga).
You can find it at: By appointment only — jamielugo.com.
What inspired me to develop it was: After studying and teaching yoga and the chakra system for years, I realized that there was a lot of great information out there, but not much instruction or guidance on what to do with that information. As sometimes happened when reading a horoscope, you acquire great insight, but are left with esoteric instructions and confusion as to how to actually make sense of the work. In other words, we only get half of the equation.
When I began coaching, I realized that each tool related to a different chakra, yoga practice or pranayama practice. When I combined my internal work with my external work, my world (inside and out) changed drastically. Blending life coaching and the ancient practices of yoga allows us to reveal practical and powerful tools—tools to navigate our lives skillfully and intentionally, mind, body and soul.
What makes it special is: It takes mind-body connection to the next level.
One thing you can’t miss is: We all know that identifying our core values, cultivating a life purpose and thinking positively can have a huge impact on our lives. But if we don’t embody these practices, they don’t become real and they sure don’t stick. When we combine deep introspection, curiosity and choice with movement, it helps create a clear path to personal empowerment and fulfillment. A path “back to being.”
Your body will thank you because: Duh! Yoga. But also: Old stories and patterns get stuck in our bodies. Undoing old mental patterns and creating new, resonant perspectives allows us to heal both our bodies and minds.
This will help you prioritize your own health, joy and energy this year because: Most of us are “human doings,” meaning we live externally and sometimes think our surroundings are responsible for what we experience. When we take responsibility for our lives and our circumstances, we get back to being our most authentic versions of ourselves. I truly believe that connecting to who we are, what we want and where we are going is the key to health, joy and vitality.
My favorite personal short ritual for self-care in 2020 is: 20-minute naps! I am a huge napper, and I credit my daily napping ritual as one of the key ingredients to my happiness.
