Gift 17 — The Ayla Sea Soak

This January, we are Giving The Process: For each of the first 30 days of the month, we’re highlighting something—and someone—amazing in the wellness world, representing the beauty, health, style, creative, energetic and/or spiritual boost you need to make yourself a priority in the new year—and decade. On January 31, one charmed follower will win one of every item and ritual we highlight, including a $1,000 gift card for Live The Process!

They say it takes 30 days to create a habit—sign ups for our newsletter, follow us on IG and tell us how you’re hoping to make taking care of your physical, emotional, intellectual and/or spiritual self a priority this year—to make 2020 about self-care without guilt.

Today’s gift is the Ayla Sea Soak.

My name is: Dara Kennedy.

I’m known for being: Founder & CEO of Ayla.

I'm sharing: The Ayla Sea Soak—a full-body, deeply detoxifying, rejuvenating and anti-inflammatory treatment that just happens to be delivered in the bath.

You can find it at: Ayla, 1825 Bush Street in San Francisco, and at aylabeauty.com.

What inspired me to create it was: The Irish seaweed bath, which has been a therapeutic ritual for generations—a panacea for ailments as varied as rheumatism, water weight, sluggish circulation and cellulite. Our supercharged version is both luxuriously simple and extra potent, made with extra care for the environment and with extra love for our home-state of California, which provides its two (yes, two) powerful ingredients.

What makes it special is: The quality, purity and freshness of its ingredients. Our kelp is as fresh as it comes, hand-harvested in the wild kelp forests that grow abundantly off the coast of Santa Cruz and sun-dried in the California desert, after being chopped into pieces that allow its detoxifying alginate gel to release in a hot bath. Our salt, made from the pristine waters off Big Sur and filtered nine times, is so prized for its incomparable saltiness and purity that it’s the salt of choice at restaurants like Sierra Mar at Post Ranch Inn. And in hot saltwater, the kelp releases circulation-stimulating iodine, detoxifying chlorophyll and anti-inflammatory fucoidan to give you an intense, yet relaxing, detoxifying and remineralizing experience like none other.

One thing you can’t miss is: The incredible gel that you squeeze out of your bath bag. It’s like a freshly-made serum that is super hydrating and calming—just the thing we all need for our faces, our bodies, our scalps and our hair. You’ll look amazingly vibrant the next day because of it.

Your body will thank you because: Its effect has been likened to that of an infrared sauna session, a deep-tissue massage, a detox body wrap at a spa and “how I feel after the hardest workout, in a really great way.” It’s a foundational product, one that sets the stage for vibrant health and beauty like nothing else we have tried.

This will help you prioritize your own health, joy, and energy this year because: It comes with guided meditations that lead you through a hair and scalp massage, too—so you get a multitude of benefits in one treatment that’s as close to an at-home spa experience as you can get.

My favorite personal short ritual for self-care in 2020 is: A Sea Soak every week! And every night before I fall asleep, meditation and a great book.
