My name is: Vanessa Yun Hong.
I’m known as: The artist formerly known as @thehautepursuit—haha! I say this because I just changed my IG name and am now just me @vanessahong.
My expertise is in: I’ve never been a specialist, but more a lover of many things—fashion, art, design and, of course, podcasting.
I stay physically healthy with: Meditation, yoga, Pilates, acupuncture, cooking all my own meals and drinking lots of water.
I keep my emotions balanced with: Meditation, yoga, mantra and reading lots and lots of books.
I’m intellectually stimulated by: Fiction, podcasts and Eastern Medicine from my teachers.
I was recently transformed by: My trip to India in 2018. India changed my life and I’m still feeling all the effects!
In the last six months, the ritual that has become so important for me is: Chanting my mantra every morning under the tutelage of my mantra teacher.
Here’s how you can do it too: I think a great mantra to chant in the beginning is the gayatri mantra. You can find short versions of this online. Even playing it at home in the AM and PM can create a general sense of peace and expansiveness in one’s life and living space.
It helps me live my process because: Because it keeps me grounded and reminds me that the deepest secrets and joys of life lie in things we cannot see or explain.
